Tan Suee Chieh

Group Chief Executive, NTUC Enterprise

Tan Suee Chieh is the Group Chief Executive of NTUC Enterprise Co-Operative Limited, the holding entity of nine NTUC social enterprises.

He was previously the Chief Executive of NTUC Income from 2007 to 2013. Prior to that, Suee Chieh was President, Asia Pacific Region of the SHL Group PLC from 2003 to 2007. He was with the Prudential Group from 1981 to 2001, where he held several senior positions including Company Actuary of Prudential Malaysia, Chief Executive of Prudential Singapore, and Managing Director, Established Markets of Prudential Asia.
Suee Chieh is the Deputy Chairman of NTUC First Campus, NTUC Learning Hub, NTUC Health, NTUC Foodfare, NTUC Link and Mercatus, and is a Director of NTUC Income and NTUC Fairprice. He is an Advisory Board Member of the Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics at the Singapore Management University as well as at UniSIM College. He is a Trustee of the Singapore LSE Trust, the Vice Chairman of the Singapore Children’s Society, and a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and Institute of Actuaries.

Suee Chieh graduated with honours from the London School of Economics and obtained a Master’s in Social Organisational Psychology from Columbia University.

Prof. Lawrence Loh

Director, Centre for Governance, Institutions and Organisations, National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School

Lawrence Loh is associate professor and deputy head of Strategy and Policy at NUS Business School of National University of Singapore. He has been leading CGIO's flagship corporate governance projects such as the Governance and Transparency Index (GTI) and ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) as the Principal Investigator. The GTI assesses and ranks all the SGX-listed companies based on their corporate governance practices and financial transparency, while the ACGIS carries out the domestic ranking exercise on the 100 largest SGX-listed companies in a 6-country ASEAN project.

Dr Loh received a PhD in Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His doctoral thesis was awarded top prize in the worldwide Doctoral Dissertation Competition in the field of Information Systems. He was Professor and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Al Ghurair University in Dubai, UAE. Earlier, he has held various senior management positions at NUS as well as the Business School and its research centres. Dr Loh has also served as chief consultant for policy projects in several government agencies and international organizations. He has published in international journals including Management Science, Information Systems Research and Journal of Management Information Systems, and has co-authored a book entitled "The Quest for Global Quality: A Manifestation of Total Quality Management by Singapore Airlines" published by Addison-Wesley.

Christopher Ng

Regional Secretary, UNI Apro

Christopher NG is the Regional Secretary of the Asian and Pacific Regional Organization of the world’s newest global trade union organization, UNI Global Union.

He was elected as the first Regional Secretary of UNI Apro at the 1st UNI Apro Regional Conference held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in June 2003 and re-elected at the 2nd UNI Apro Regional Conference held in Kuala Lumpur in August 2007 and was re-elected at subsequent UNI Apro Regional Conferences held once every four years in 2011 and 2015.

Chris is actively involved in the campaign to socialize the ASEAN integration process and is instrumental in the establishment of the ASEAN Services Employees’ Trade Unions Council (ASETUC) to represent the interests and propagate the concerns of workers in the ASEAN countries. ASETUC membership is composed by the affiliates of three Global Unions – the BWI, UNI and PSI in the ASEAN countries.

He is a keen advocate of social partnership industrial relations and has initiated and facilitated co-operation between the management and trade unions in various companies in a number of countries, aimed at nurturing and creating a harmonious and conducive work environments.

Chris is also instrumental in developing co-operative relations and strategic partnerships with NGOs, academic institutions, social organizations and other institutions to promote workers’ rights and reshape the labour movement in this region to challenge the negative effects of globalization and confront the common challenges.
