Vietnam Business Forum 2016 focuses on private sector

Hanoi (VNA) - The Vietnam Business Forum 2016 opened on December 5 in Hanoi focusing on strengthening the role of the private economic sector through fostering the partnership between domestic and foreign enterprises. In opening the annual event, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said the business community in Vietnam saw developments in both terms of quantity and quality in 2016, but still the domestic enterprises are not strong enough to make effective integration, without any representative able to join the global value and supply chains.  For more information, please refer to here.

Helping enterprises resist corruption

The first draft of Việt Nam’s latest anti-corruption law was published in late June by the Government Inspectorate and has been attracting comment and debate from all sectors of society. If all goes according to schedule, the draft will be submitted to the National Assembly in November of this year. Final revisions will go to the National Assembly for adoption in May 2017. Key Changes to Vietnam's Draft Anti-Corruption Law

The first Draft Anti-Corruption Law (Draft Law) has recently become available for public comments. While the illegality of corrupt acts remains unchanged, several adjustments of note have been made. For more info, please refer to here.

Anti-Corruption Week 19 - 23 Sept 2016

The British High Commission, Singapore hosted the first International Anti-Corruption Week in Singapore from 19 to 23 Sept 2016. The event was officially launched by UK Financial Secretary to the Treasury Ms Jane Ellison MP. 

During her visit, the Minister also called on Singapore leaders and meet with business leaders from Singapore and the UK. Just over a year ago, the then British Prime Minister, David Cameron MP, gave his landmark speech, focusing on tackling corruption and announcing the London Anti Corruption Summit. This event sought to amplify and echo the messages of the London Summit, building partnerships between Public and Private sectors across the region.
