World leaders have recognised that corruption is a key obstacle to progress, prosperity and sustainability. Corruption not only adds up to the cost of doing business but also distorts market mechanisms, prevents fair competition and deters investments, thus stifling growth and future business opportunities and erodes public investor trust and confidence. Singapore Management University (SMU) and the ASEAN CSR Network (ACN) co-organised the consultation workshop on human rights at the ASEAN Responsible Business Forum in Kuala Lumpur, on 29 October 2015. 

The workshop, "Implementing the UN Guiding Principles in Business and Human Rights", was designed to gather input from government, business and civil society stakeholders on how developing national and regional strategies on business and human rights (BHR) can help to create an enabling environment for the greater protection and respect for human rights in ASEAN.

The ASEAN Responsible Business Forum was held from 27-29 October 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The co-organisers, ASEAN CSR Network (ACN) and Oxfam have written a communique to reflect the recommendations, aspirations and commitments discussed at the Forum.
