Daniel Dumas, Executive Director, Canadian International Resources and Development Institute (CIRDI)

Daniel Dumas has been working in the energy and extractive sectors for over 25 years, holding senior positions with major international organisations.  Well-known in the industry, he has worked extensively with governments of over 30 countries, implement projects and building capacity for the sustainable development of their extractive sector.

As Head of the Economic & Legal Section (ELS) of the Commonwealth Secretariat for seven years, Daniel led the development and implementation of the Secretariat’s natural resources programme.  The international Monetary Fund (IMF) recruited him in 2012 for his broad expertise of petroleum and mining policy and governance to enhance the Fund’s capacity in these sectors.
