RAFI - Consultation Draft of Guidance for Human Rights Assurance

This is with regards to the work of the human rights Reporting and Assurance Frameworks Initiative (RAFI), jointly facilitated by Shift and Mazars, to develop guidance for practitioners of human rights assurance. At their multi-stakeholder consultation in Jakarta, where they discussed with participants the uptake of the recently-launched UNGP Reporting Framework, they had sought inputs on a first draft of the proposed assurance guidance.

You will find recent news and updates related to the UNGP Reporting Framework here, and do please sign up for their periodic newsletter if you have not already done so.

Since those consultations last year, they had been working hard on the further development of the human rights assurance guidance, taking account of the feedback as well as some subsequent inputs from a range of assurance practitioners. These discussions have informed the attached Consultation Draft, which has two parts:

1. Narrative guidance for assurance practitioners
2. A set of indicators of appropriateness and effectiveness

They are publishing these drafts this week for a period of public consultation, which will continue through to the end of October. The public announcement with the drafts can be found in this link which also highlights the key structural changes they had made to the guidance as well as some priority questions. They hope to launch the final guidance document in spring 2017.
