Minister Masagos Zulkifli

Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, Singapore

Masagos Zulkifli is Singapore’s Minister for the Environment and Water Resources which oversees the National Environment Agency and PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency. Mr Zulkifli entered politics in 2006, after being elected as Member of Parliament for Tampines Group Representation Constituency, and was appointed Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Education. Prior to that, Mr Zulkifli was working in Singapore Telecommunications Limited and last held the position of CEO, SingTel Global Offices. From 2008 to 2014, Mr Zulkifli held other positions within the Singapore Government, within the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs. He took on his current appointment in October 2015.

Professor Jeremy Moon

Velux Professor of Corporate Sustainability, Copenhagen Business School

Jeremy Moon is Velux Professor of Corporate Sustainability at the Copenhagen Business School. He was founding Director of the
International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility, University of Nottingham; and Deputy Dean, Nottingham University Business
School. He is co-author of Corporations and Citizenship (Cambridge University Press, 2008) and author of the Very Short Introduction to
Corporate Social Responsibility (Oxford University Press, 2014).

Ambassador Hakan Jevrell

Ambassador of Sweden to Singapore and Brunei Darussalam

Ambassador Håkan Jevrell was appointed Ambassador of Sweden to Singapore in August 2013 and he is also the non-resident Ambassador of Sweden to Brunei Darussalam. 

Mr Jevrell was State Secretary at the Swedish Ministry of Defense from 2007-2012. He was also the Political Adviser at the Swedish Prime Minister’s office between 2006-2007.

Prior to his career in the Swedish government, Mr Jevrell was a Prosecutor at Västerorts Local Public Prosecution Office in Stockholm and prior to that he was an Assistant Lawyer at Legio Advokatfirma, Stockholm and he started his legal career at as a Law Clerk at County Administrative Court, Mariestad.

Mr Jevrell holds Masters of Law from Stockholm University and has also completed an Executive Management Program at the Institute For Leadership at Stockholm School of Economics.

Mr Jevrell has served as a Board Member for the Reserve Officers Organization in Stockholm and was also a Member of the Senior Advisory Board at Business Risk Management Europe Ltd (BRM), Stockholm.

Ambassador Ong Keng Yong 

Ambassador-at-Large, Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Executive Deputy Chairman, S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University

Ambassador ONG Keng Yong is Executive Deputy Chairman of the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Concurrently, he is Ambassador-at-Large at the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs, non-resident High Commissioner to Pakistan and non-resident Ambassador to Iran. Mr Ong also serves as Chairman of the Singapore International Foundation (SIF).

Mr Ong was High Commissioner of Singapore to Malaysia from 2011 to 2014. He served as Secretary-General of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), based in Jakarta, Indonesia from January 2003 to January 2008.

Mr Ong started his diplomatic career in 1979 and was posted to the Singapore Embassies in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and the United States of America. He was Singapore's High Commissioner to India and concurrently Ambassador to Nepal from 1996 to 1998. From September 1998 to December 2002, he was Press Secretary to the then Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr Goh Chok Tong. At the same time, Mr Ong held senior appointments in the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts, and the People's Association in Singapore. From 2008 to 2011, he served as Director of the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) in the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore.

Mr Ong graduated from the then University of Singapore with a LLB (Hons) and the Georgetown University (Washington DC, USA) with a MA in Arab Studies

Yanti Triwadiantini

Chair, ASEAN CSR Network

Yanti Triwadiantini is the Chair of the ASEAN CSR Network, a regional organisation launched in 2011 in line with the ASEAN Community 2015 Blueprint with a mandate to ensure that CSR is incorporated in the corporate agenda and contributes towards sustainable socio-economic development in ASEAN

She is also the Sustainability Adviser to the Executive Director of Indonesia Business Links, a not-for-profit organisation promoting and advocating good corporate citizenship in Indonesia, and a member of the Regional Working Group on Business Integrity, a group founded in 2014 with the objective of promoting business integrity in the ASEAN business community. She is also a Vice President for Learning with the Indonesia Global Compact Network.

Since 2000, she has been instrumental in designing programs, and fostering multi-sector partnership for various development initiatives in the areas of business ethics, anti-corruption, SME development, youth empowerment, water and sanitation, and responsible waste management.

She graduated with a Master of Philosophy degree in Environmental Science from Griffith University, Australia, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Indonesia.

Prof. Dr. Aung Tun Thet

Chairman, Global Compact Network Myanmar

National Contact Point: OECD Responsible Business Conduct

Prof. Dr. Aung Tun Thet is the Vice-Chairman of the President’s National Economic and Social Advisory Council, member of the Myanmar Investment Commission, Advisor of Union of Myanmar Federation of Commerce and Industries and a member of Myanmar Press Council.

Aung Tun Thet also chairs the UN Global Compact Local Network of Myanmar and is the National Contact Person for Responsible Business Conduct of the Myanmar OECD. His other roles include as the Visiting Professor, to Yangon Institute of Economics; Yangon University as well as the National Defence College.

Prior, Aung Tun Thet held various positions including Principal Officer of the UN System Staff College, Turin, Italy (2000 – 2008), Senior Policy Advisor of UNICEF in New York, Dhaka and Bangkok (1992 – 2000). He was Director-General of the Ministry of Health (1989 - 1992) and Faculty Member of the Institute of Economics, Yangon (1966-1989).

Rodora Turalde Babaran

Rodora has been Director of Human Development, ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Department of the ASEAN Secretariat from September 2014; she was previously the National Program Manager for the Philippine Conditional Cash Transfer Program who managed the second largest CCT program in the world and the largest in country social assistance program.  She obtained her master degree in Development Management from the Asian Institute of Management and her Bachelor of Science in Social work from University of the Philippines.

Jasmine Begum

Director, Corporate & Government Affairs, Corporate, External & Legal Affairs, Microsoft Malaysia and New Markets

Jasmine Begum, Director of Legal & Corporate Affairs for Malaysia and New Markets. Based in Kuala Lumpur, Jasmine has held this role since 2010, where she oversees corporate affairs and government and policy engagement as well as philanthropies for Microsoft businesses in Malaysia and the emerging markets.

Jasmine joined Microsoft with over 20 years of award-winning experience that uniquely straddles both legal/policy engagement and communications, that included leadership and regional stints at companies such as Dell Malaysia, the United Nations Development Program, the Malay Chamber of Commerce, the United Nations headquarters in New York, as well as having been a corporate litigator.

Jasmine has broad educational qualifications having completed a double law degree at the International Islamic University in Kuala Lumpur. Jasmine then pursued post-graduate studies in both Law and Communications, in the UK.

Jerry Bernas 

Program Director, ASEAN CSR Network

Jerry Bernas has over 14 years of experience in the fields of corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability, corporate communications and stakeholder relations. He currently resides in Singapore and serves as Program Director of the ASEAN CSR Network, a regional organisation formed to promote CSR and sustainability in support of ASEAN Community integration. He oversees a portfolio of projects under the ‘ASEAN CSR Vision 2020’ initiative, is responsible for managing partner and donor relationships, and regularly delivers lectures and presentations on topics related to CSR such as business and human rights, anti-corruption and stakeholder engagement. Jerry holds a Business Management degree from Ateneo de Manila University (Philippines) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the National University of Singapore, specializing in business strategy and organization.

Dr. Audrey Chia

Associate Professor of Management & Organization, NUS Business School
Jt Associate Professor, Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health

Audrey is Associate Professor of Management & Organization, NUS Business School. She holds a joint appointment at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health at the National University of Singapore. Audrey studies how social and health problems can be addressed by social entrepreneurship and innovative philanthropy. Audrey’s research has been published in JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) and by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). She has spoken on social entrepreneurship, philanthropy, innovative financing and inclusive growth at meetings of the ADB, OECD, United Nations and the European Union. Her work has been presented at conferences of the Academy of Management, the Integrated Care Foundation and the World Health Summit.

Audrey has consulted for, given talks and conducted executive training on Leadership, Change, Managing in Asia and Diversity & Inclusiveness to international organisations such as Bridgestone, Dentsu, Deutsche Bahn-Schenker, Total, Catalyst, DHL, Jones Lang LaSalle, L’Oreal, McDonald’s, Maersk, Mitsui, Panasonic, Samsung, Telenor, Royal Brunei Airlines, PT Astra, Temasek Foundation, the Government of Brunei and Unilever.

Audrey directs the NIHA (NUS Initiative to Improve Health in Asia) Healthcare Leadership Programme for senior leaders in the public, private and NGO sectors from 15 countries across Asia. Audrey also directs NUS Business School’s Leadership Development Programme, which attracts participants from five continents. She has received three University awards, two Faculty awards and numerous commendations for excellence in teaching.

Gerard Forlin

Gerard has practised, consulted or lectured in over 50 countries. His broad practice covers:

• Civil, Criminal and Commercial Litigation: Professional discipline, product liability, consumer crime, commercial fishing (EU), licensing, corruption and bribery, construction, aviation, fraud and inquests.
• Environment: Oil and gas, environmental crime including water pollution and fishing quotas, and waste offences. He also acts for the Environment Agency on policy issues.
• Health and Safety Inquests and Inquiries: Public inquiries, human rights and inquests. He has been involved in over 300 fatality cases and has appeared in the vast majority of major cases in this field in the last ten years.

He has been appointed to an International Mediation and Arbitration panel of 14 worldwide members for the Royal Aeronautical Society. There are only two QCs on this global panel. Gerard has undertaken a series of lectures for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the UN and ASEAN on the UK Bribery Act in Australia and all over Asia. He will be conducting more later in the year.

Gil Laxamana Gonzales's professional career and expertise cover the areas of corporate governance, risk management, strategic and corporate planning, human resource and change management, general administration, and advocacy for governance reforms. He is the current Vice President of Corporate Governance and Risk Management at SM Investments Corporation, a leading conglomerate in the Philippines with substantial interests in retail, banking and property development. Additionally, Mr Gonzales serves as Interim Executive Director of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN BAC), the Lead Private Sector Body that provides advice and feedback to the ASEAN Ministers and Leaders relative to the ASEAN economic integration program. He is a regular speaker on Corporate Governance and Risk Management, and also served as President of the Good Governance Advocates and Practitioners of the Philippines, a leading non-stock, non-profit association committed to promoting good governance reforms in the Philippines.

K.K. Hlaing

K.K Hlaing received his Master of Science degree from Yangon Arts and Science University. He worked for Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise as Geophysicist from 1975 to 1981. He then worked for Schlumberger Technical Services as Field Engineer/ Data Services Manager from 1981 to 1994 in Myanmar, India, Indonesia and the United States of America.

K.K Hlaing founded SMART Technical Services in 1994. He is presently the Chairman for SMART Group of Companies as well as Myanmar Oil and Gas Services Society. He is frequently involved in environmental activities including producing a video awareness program titled “Stop Using Plastic Bag”, “Waste” and “Live Green”. He also participates actively in advocacy works on safeguarding environment.

K.K Hlaing is a also weekly host for local TV talk shows and radio channels on Capacity Building and Leadership topics as well as an author and public speaker of training in management tools and leadership skills. He has written and published 12 books about Leadership and Success. He is a frequent guest speaker at numerous Oil & Gas / Electric Power and Energy conferences, seminars and workshops.

Ramesh Kana

Ramesh has over 25 years of diverse international experience gained from the oil and gas, investment banking and accounting sectors. He built his career at a leading international group of energy and petrochemical companies, holding key positions in Australia, China, Malaysia, United Kingdom and Latin America. Ramesh has also held senior roles in a listed mining services company and a Sydney-based corporate finance house. At Emery Oleochemicals, Ramesh is focused on driving and implementing critical growth strategies; decisively positioning the company for its next generation of global expansion in the area of natural-based specialty chemicals. In his personal capacity as the President of the Global Compact Network Malaysia, he aims to increase the adoption of Corporate Sustainability among Corporate Malaysia as a value-add and business differentiator.

Prior to founding PT Komunikasi Kinerja (Kiroyan Partners) in November 2006 Noke Kiroyan has been an international business executive for more than three decades covering the electrical, oleo-chemical and mining industries.

His business career commenced as Management Trainee with PT Siemens Indonesia that assigned him to the head office in Germany in mid-1974 for a 2-year training program leading to the professional commercial and finance qualification as Industriekaufmann. This followed an advanced language course in Schwäbisch Hall on a scholarship from Goethe Institut awarded for finishing best in Indonesia in 1972 in the test “Deutsch als Fremdsprache” (German as a Foreign Language) while studying Communication Science at Padjadjaran University in Bandung.

Noke Kiroyan is actively involved in promoting Good Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility as Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, Vice Chairman of the Partnership for Governance Reform and other organizations. He is lecturer on the subject “CSR and Sustainable Development: Concept, Context and Issues” at the Trisakti University Management School. With two other CEOs he co-founded Indonesia Business Links in 1999 and was its Chairman until 2013.

He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Science from Padjadjaran University in Bandung and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from Syracuse University in the United States, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University in the United Kingdom. Noke speaks English and German fluently and has a good working knowledge of Dutch as well as various Indonesian dialects.

Prof. Lawrence Loh

Director, Centre for Governance, Institutions and Organisations, National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School

Lawrence Loh is associate professor and deputy head of Strategy and Policy at NUS Business School of National University of Singapore. He has been leading CGIO's flagship corporate governance projects such as the Governance and Transparency Index (GTI) and ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) as the Principal Investigator. The GTI assesses and ranks all the SGX-listed companies based on their corporate governance practices and financial transparency, while the ACGIS carries out the domestic ranking exercise on the 100 largest SGX-listed companies in a 6-country ASEAN project.

Dr Loh received a PhD in Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His doctoral thesis was awarded top prize in the worldwide Doctoral Dissertation Competition in the field of Information Systems. He was Professor and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Al Ghurair University in Dubai, UAE. Earlier, he has held various senior management positions at NUS as well as the Business School and its research centres. Dr Loh has also served as chief consultant for policy projects in several government agencies and international organizations. He has published in international journals including Management Science, Information Systems Research and Journal of Management Information Systems, and has co-authored a book entitled "The Quest for Global Quality: A Manifestation of Total Quality Management by Singapore Airlines" published by Addison-Wesley.

Jeann Low

Group Chief Corporate Officer, Singtel

Ms Jeann Low, 55, was appointed Group Chief Corporate Officer on 10 April 2015. She is responsible for the Group’s corporate functions including strategy, mergers and acquisitions, corporate communications, legal, regulatory and procurement. Jeann was the Group Chief Financial Officer from September 2008, overseeing the Group’s financial affairs, including corporate finance, treasury and capital management and investor relations.

Jeann joined Singtel in October 1998 as the Group Financial Controller. On 16 November 2004, she was promoted to Executive Vice President of Strategic Investments, managing the Group’s international investments, and was appointed CFO of Optus on 1 February 2006. Prior to Singtel, Jeann worked in the Singapore and London practices of an international accounting firm and thereafter at a public listed electronics company in Singapore.
Jeann is a member of the Governing Board of the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. She is also a Director of Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited and was a Council Member of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants from April 2010 to April 2014.
She holds an Honours Degree in Accountancy from the National University of Singapore and is a Chartered Accountant of Singapore.

Prof. Mahdev Mohan

Assistant Professor, School of Law, Singapore Management University

Mahdev Mohan is an Assistant Professor at the Singapore Management University (SMU) School of Law where he teaches public international law. He directs the Asian Business & Rule of Law initiative within SMU’s Centre for Cross-border Commercial Law in Asia. Mahdev was a co-principal investigator for a UN-backed project carried out by SMU and the University of Witswatersrand in South Africa which provided Global South perspectives on National Action Plans for business and human rights. He is also the co-editor of the book Business& Human Rights in Southeast Asia: Risk and the Regulatory Turn, which was published by Routledge. An editor of the Journal of East Asia and International Law, he researches on international law, investment arbitration and human rights in Asia. Mahdev is also an Associate Tenant of Temple Garden Chambers in London, and has represented civil parties in class actions before a UN-backed tribunal in Cambodia.

Prof. Ishtiaq Pasha Mahmood

Associate Professor, NUS Business School

Ishtiaq Pasha Mahmood is an Associate Professor at the NUS Business School where he studies and works with multinational and indigenous companies on their emerging market strategies. He joined the NUS faculty in 1999, after obtaining an economics degree from Oberlin College (1992) and a Ph.D. from Harvard (1999), and an interim stint as a management consultant in Chicago.

From 2012 to 2014, Pasha was a Professor at IMD Lausanne where he continues to teach in its flagship Orchestrating Winning Performance (OWP) program. He has also taught at the Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo, and is a member of the Asian Service Business Research Institute (ASBS) at Waseda University.

In 2002, Pasha won the Haynes Prize from the Academy of International Business (AIB) for the most prominent scholar in international business (under 40).

More recently in 2014, he has won the Aspen Faculty Pioneer Award; dubbed "the Oscars of the business school world" by The Financial Times, the award recognises educators who integrate social and environmental issues into their academic research, educational programmes and business ethics. Pasha sits on the faculty advisory boards of the Evian Group, and the recently created SONY Reverse Innovation Community. At NUS, he teaches at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and directs the popular "Business Strategies for Asia" program for senior executives.

Sher Mazari

Sustainable Business & Communications Director, UNILEVER

Sher Mazari is the External Affairs Director for Unilever’s South East and Australasia region, with the responsibility to develop and manage the Company’s relationship with key stakeholders and create the environment for sustainable business growth. He is also responsible for leading the Communication teams in Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos, in the areas of external affairs, corporate reputation, media relations, internal communication and sustainable development.

Prior to this role, he was Unilever’s Regional Corporate Relations Director from 2008 to 2011, and Media Relations Manager from 2006 to 2007. Sher has worked in Unilever for the last 20 years in various Marketing and Communication roles across a number of countries with extensive experience and expertise in corporate communication, reputation management, stakeholder management, issue/crises management and corporate sustainability.

Christopher Ng

Regional Secretary, UNI Apro

Christopher NG is the Regional Secretary of the Asian and Pacific Regional Organization of the world’s newest global trade union organization, UNI Global Union.

He was elected as the first Regional Secretary of UNI Apro at the 1st UNI Apro Regional Conference held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in June 2003 and re-elected at the 2nd UNI Apro Regional Conference held in Kuala Lumpur in August 2007 and was re-elected at subsequent UNI Apro Regional Conferences held once every four years in 2011 and 2015.

Chris is actively involved in the campaign to socialize the ASEAN integration process and is instrumental in the establishment of the ASEAN Services Employees’ Trade Unions Council (ASETUC) to represent the interests and propagate the concerns of workers in the ASEAN countries. ASETUC membership is composed by the affiliates of three Global Unions – the BWI, UNI and PSI in the ASEAN countries.

He is a keen advocate of social partnership industrial relations and has initiated and facilitated co-operation between the management and trade unions in various companies in a number of countries, aimed at nurturing and creating a harmonious and conducive work environments.

Chris is also instrumental in developing co-operative relations and strategic partnerships with NGOs, academic institutions, social organizations and other institutions to promote workers’ rights and reshape the labour movement in this region to challenge the negative effects of globalization and confront the common challenges.

Dr. Seree Nonthasoot

Representative of Thailand to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights

Appointed by the cabinet in February 2013 and reappointed for the 2016-2018 term, Dr. Seree Nonthasoot has since been serving as the Representative of Thailand to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR). Priorities for his second term include the development of a regional plan of action to mainstream the rights of persons with disabilities in the ASEAN Community, thematic studies on legal aid and death penalty, a campaign for the right to birth registration for the children of ASEAN and a regional plan for business and human rights in ASEAN.

Prior to his national appointment to the AICHR, Dr. Seree was a member of the Working Group on the Drafting of the ASEAN Human Rights Declaration, the first regional comprehensive human rights instrument that was adopted by ASEAN leaders in Phnom Penh in November 2012. He also teaches at various institutions, including Mahidol and Thammasat University, on the subject of human rights and law. Apart from his human rights works, Dr. Seree is the Senior Executive Vice President of the Institute for the Research and Development of Public Enterprises, a foundation that aims at promoting better governance and efficiency of public enterprises through research, training of officials and effective evaluation system.

Nguyen Quang Vinh

Joining VCCI since 1992, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh has had 22 years of management experience in international relations and business sustainable development, during which Vinh devoted his career path to VCCI’s International Relations Department for 13 years, being responsible for building and maintaining relationships with partners and networks with individuals and organisations. He participated in the establishment of the Office for Business Sustainable Development (SDforB) of VCCI in 2006, the Global Compact Vietnam Network (GCVN) in 2007 and Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) in 2010.

Currently he is the Director General of the SDforB, General Secretary of VBCSD and Deputy Secretary General of VCCI.

Vinh graduated from the National Economics University, Finance & Banking Department and completed his MBA in International Business and Export Management in 1998 from Cass Business School, London, UK.

Rashyid Redza bin Anwarudin

Vice President, Head of Sustainability Reporting & Social Performance, Sime Darby Berhad

Rashyid is currently the Vice President, Head of Sustainability Reporting / Social Performance for Sime Darby Berhad, which is a diversified Malaysian multinational and the largest producer of certified sustainable palm oil globally. Prior to joining Sime Darby, he has more than 15 years of consulting and corporate advisory experience regionally, spanning across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.

Previously, he was part of the regional leadership team for the Sustainability and Climate Change offering of the PwC South East Asia Consulting practice. He advised numerous private and public sector clients regionally on matters around sustainability strategy, policy frameworks, valuation, reporting, impact measurement, climate change and green technology.

Rashyid has spoken previously at various public forums internationally on areas covering sustainability and has also contributed articles on the matter for various publications within the region.

Christophe Rossignol

Regional Supply Chain Head for China & SEA, Nestle Nutrition

Christophe Rossignol is Regional Supply Chain Head for China & SEA Nestle Nutrition from January 2015. He has joined Nestle in 2003 part of the Globe program management (Business excellence and worldwide SAP implementation). He is based in Singapore since 2013 where he first joined the Wyeth team in Singapore in the regional factory. Christophe has been working in Switzerland and Italy. During his tenure as Supply Chain project lead in Switzerland, he was in charge of SC improvement projects in more than 10 countries. In his current position, Christophe leads and support over 10 countries in Asia in the area of Planning, Customer service, Logistics, Innovation and Risks management.

Mr Rossignol is French, graduated as an engineer in transportation and has a master in Supply Chain. He started his career as principal consultant within the PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Paris. He worked during this time for Danone and Sanofi Aventis, working on business re-engineering and implementing Supply Chain best practices.

Erinch Sahan

Head of Private Sector Team, Oxfam GB

Erinch currently leads the private sector team at Oxfam Great Britain. Since 2011, Erinch has been working at Oxfam to leverage business to tackle poverty and injustice. His work spans programmes (enterprise development) and campaigns (leading the scoring of food companies in the Behind the Brands campaign). He works directly with companies across sectors to help them understand their poverty impacts and develop new business models. Erinch’s background is in business (P&G), law (Gadens Lawyers) and government (development advisor to Australia’s trade negotiation team in Indonesia). He has worked across Asia and Africa, with stints in Indonesia, Thailand and Kenya. He regularly lectures on sustainable business at various universities, including Cambridge, and sits on a number of advisory committees, including the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative Platform.

Ray Paulo Santiago

Executive Director, Ateneo Human Rights Centre

Ray Paolo (Arpee) J. Santiago is the Secretary-General of the Working Group for an ASEAN Human Rights Mechanism (Working Group). The Working Group is recognized in the ASEAN (ASEAN of Southeast Asian Nations) Charter as an “Entity Associated With ASEAN.” It has been working with ASEAN on issues of human rights institution-building and has been instrumental in the establishment of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) and the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC).

Arpee was also appointed as Legal Consultant and an Assistant to the Philippine Representative to the High Level Task Force set-up by ASEAN that drafted the ASEAN Charter and later on as an Assistant to the Philippine Representative to the High Level Panel that drafted the Terms of Reference of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights. He was one of the human rights experts consulted by the AICHR in the drafting of the ASEAN Human Rights Declaration.

Arpee is also the Executive Director of Ateneo Human Rights Center which is the Secretariat of the Working Group. AHRC is based at the Law School of the Ateneo de Manila University. He is active in litigation involving cases affecting vulnerable groups, particularly women, children, urban poor, and peasants; policy research and analysis (e.g. human rights, women and children’s issues, local governance and administration of justice issues); networking, fundraising, and supervision of programs; editing publications; organizing and facilitating national and international seminars; drafting laws and lobbying for legislative reforms; and giving lectures on human rights, women and children’ rights and governance topics to local and national officials, military/police personnel, legislative staff, lawyers and law students, NGOs, religious groups, teachers, and vulnerable groups throughout the country. Arpee is a Lecturer of the Law School, teaching Human Rights, International Humanitarian Law, Clinical Legal Education, Legal Writing, Legal Profession, Law on Sales and Constitutional Law 2. He is also a Lecturer at the Institute of Law of the Far Eastern University. He has been a recipient of the Freedom Flame Award of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (2014) and the inaugural ASEAN Peoples Award (2015).

Arpee took up his Bachelor of Arts Degree Major in Public Administration at University of the Philippines and Juris Doctor Degree at Ateneo de Manila University.

Dr. Isabel Sim

Isabel was Senior Lecturer at the Department of Strategy and Policy, NUS Business School where she held a joint appointment as Senior Research Fellow at the Centre of Governance, Institutions and Organisations (CGIO). She served as the principal consultant for Singapore’s Governance & Transparency Index (GTI) and as a member of the corporate governance experts’ panel to the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard from 2012 to 2014. She obtained her PhD in Finance from The University of Western Australia.

Jeanne Stampe

Asia Finance and Commodities Specialist, WWF International 

Jeanne Stampe joined WWF International in 2011 as the Asia Finance and Commodities Specialist.  She brings with her finance experience from over 8 years of private equity investing in Europe and SE Asia with Apax Partners and Affinity Equity Partners.  

Prior to this, she spent 5 years at Goldman Sachs London and Credit Suisse New York on structured finance and M&A deals. In 2012, she co-authored the WWF Palm Oil Investor Review and in 2014, she was the project leader and editor of the WWF ESG Integration Guide for Banks which was accompanied by a series of workshops across South East Asia.

She was the project leader and co-author of the 2015 report on Sustainable Finance in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia which sparked industry level changes in Singapore and Indonesia. In 2016, she published the WWF Asian Fast Moving Consumer Goods Sustainability Guide. She graduated with an BA(Hons), MA (cantab) in Economics from Cambridge University.

Pensri Suteerasarn

Vice Chair, ASEAN CSR Network
President, Thai Listed Companies Association

Ms. Pensri Suteerasarn is the Vice Chair of ASEAN CSR Network. She is also the President of the Thai Listed Companies Association and has held her appointment since 2006. The Thai Listed Companies Association is a not-for-profit organisation, established in 1987 and currently has 500 members which are listed companies on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and the Market for Alternative Investment (MAI).

TLCA has been playing an active role in the capital market development and social and economic development of Thailand. TLCA strives to create among the public companies, an understanding of doing business in accordance with international standards and best practices. In addition, TLCA also emphasizes arranging activities and training to promote corporate governance and corporate social responsibility.

In 2009, TLCA in collaboration with its 27 members, founded the CSR Club with support from the Stock Exchange of Thailand and the Office of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under the concept of “Connect for Sharing.”
Prior to joining TLCA, Ms. Suteerasarn was a Consultant with the Thai Ministry of Finance. Before that, she was an Associate Director, Investment Banking with Dresdner Kleinwort Benson. Earlier in her career, she was a Manager, Investment Banking with the Swiss Bank Corporation.

Prof. Eugene Tan

Associate Professor of Law and Co-Director,
Singapore Management University Centre for Scholars Development

An advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore, Eugene was educated at the National University of Singapore, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Stanford University where he was a Fulbright Fellow.

At the SMU, Eugene teaches courses on business ethics, CSR and corporate governance at the undergraduate, graduate (graduate diploma, MBA, and EMBA), and executive education levels. His other inter-disciplinary research interests include constitutional and administrative law, the mutual interaction of law and public policy, the government and politics of Singapore, and the regulation of ethnic conflict.

In 2007, Eugene was a member of the global taskforce that drafted the ‘Principles for Responsible Management Education (www.unprme.org), an initiative under the auspices of the United Nations to inspire and champion responsible management education, research and thought leadership globally.

Cornelius WM (René) VAN BERKEL

Chief Technical Adviser, Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Programme – Indonesia
United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)

Rene VAN BERKEL (PhD) is since June 2015 Chief Technical Advisor for UNIDO’s Resource efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) programme in Indonesia. He supports national implementation partners and government counterparts to scale up and mainstream RECP, through technical inputs for training, assessment, advocacy and policy development.

From 2008, he was Unit Chief (Cleaner and Sustainable Production). He provided oversight for the global RECP programme oversight, guided establishment and operation of global RECP network and thematic work on eco-industrial parks and RECP methods and tools. He also designed and managed national RECP programmes in Albania, Indonesia and Myanmar and regional RECP demonstration programme in the EU’s Eastern Partnership region. He was also key resource on green industry policy, low carbon and climate resilient industry and corporate social responsibility.

Prior to joining UNIDO, he was an independent consultant in eco-efficiency, industrial ecology and sustainable technology. From 1999 to 2006 he was Australia’s first full professor of Cleaner Production at Curtin University of Technology in Perth. From 1989 to 1999 he held various research and leadership positions at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Dr Van Berkel is a Dutch national and holds a PhD in Environmental Science from the University of Amsterdam.

Francisco L Roman Jr, DBA

Executive Director, RVR-Center for CSR, and C V Starr Center & Hills Governance Program
Head, AIM Office of Research and Publications

Professor Francisco L. Roman has been associated with AIM since 1970. He is now engaged full-time as a Research Manager responsible for the administration and outputs of the Centers and Departments at AIM and Executive Director for AIM’s CSR & CG Center.

Aside from the above-named administrative and research assignments, Prof. Roman teaches Corporate Social Responsibility & Governance, Family Firms Management and Asian Business Systems, Competitiveness & Cluster Development, and SME Entrepreneurship.

Prof. Roman has also done consulting work for organisations such as World Bank Institute's Asian Network for Health Systems Strengthening for policy research and capacity building in the Greater Sub-Mekong Region with stints in Laos, Cambodia, and Viet Nam. He also worked with GIZ on supply chain management for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in the Philippines and on environmental sustainability in (eucalyptus) plantations in North India. 

Until September 2007, he served as the Associate Dean of the Asian Center for Entrepreneurship (ACE). Prior to ACE, Prof. Roman taught with the faculty of the Center for Development Management (CDM) at AIM—focusing on applying competitiveness concepts and methodology in the development context

Roel Nieuwenkamp

Chair, OECD Working Party on Responsible Business Conduct

Roel Nieuwenkamp is Chair of the OECD Working Party on Responsible Business Conduct, an Intergovernmental Working Group, focused on Corporate Responsibility. He supervises and provides leadership to CSR programmes on the Financial Sector, Mining Sector and conflict minerals.

Prior to his current position, Roel was Chair of the OECD Working Party on International Investment responsible for the negotiations on the 2011 update of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.

He has also served the European Commission and was a consultant in New Zealand on the issue of results oriented government. For several years he was management consultant at Arthur Andersen.

As the Director of the International Trade Policy & Economic Governance with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, his responsibilities concern trade policy (WTO), investment treaties, corporate social responsibility, and the regulation of strategic goods.

Prof. Tan Kok Choon

Associate Professor, Decision Sciences, NUS Business School
Director of Degree Education, The Logistics Institute – Asia Pacific

Tan Kok Choon is associate professor of Decision Sciences at NUS Business School and Director of Degree Education at The Logistics Institute – Asia Pacific (TLIAP), overseeing the Double Master Program in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, a collaboration between NUS and Georgia Institute of Technology. He is also program co-director of the M.Sc. in Supply Chain Management program which is jointly offered by the Department of Decision Sciences, Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering and TLIAP.

Dr Tan received a PhD in Operations Research from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has held appointments as Container Terminal Process Manager with PSA Singapore and Manager of Operations Research at PSA International, and Operations Research Manager at Land Transport Authority. He has published in international journals including Mathematics of Operations, European Journal of Operational Research, OR Spectrum, Intermodal Transportation Research, Supply Chain Optimization, among others.

Dr Tan is currently serving as President of the Operational Research Society of Singapore (ORSS) as well as a member of the Logistics Technical Committee and the Manufacturing Standards Committee under the Singapore Standards Council.

Tan Suee Chieh

Group Chief Executive, NTUC Enterprise

Tan Suee Chieh is the Group Chief Executive of NTUC Enterprise Co-Operative Limited, the holding entity of nine NTUC social enterprises.

He was previously the Chief Executive of NTUC Income from 2007 to 2013. Prior to that, Suee Chieh was President, Asia Pacific Region of the SHL Group PLC from 2003 to 2007. He was with the Prudential Group from 1981 to 2001, where he held several senior positions including Company Actuary of Prudential Malaysia, Chief Executive of Prudential Singapore, and Managing Director, Established Markets of Prudential Asia.
Suee Chieh is the Deputy Chairman of NTUC First Campus, NTUC Learning Hub, NTUC Health, NTUC Foodfare, NTUC Link and Mercatus, and is a Director of NTUC Income and NTUC Fairprice. He is an Advisory Board Member of the Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics at the Singapore Management University as well as at UniSIM College. He is a Trustee of the Singapore LSE Trust, the Vice Chairman of the Singapore Children’s Society, and a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and Institute of Actuaries.

Suee Chieh graduated with honours from the London School of Economics and obtained a Master’s in Social Organisational Psychology from Columbia University.

Teo Chee Khiang

Professor (Practice), Department of Accounting, National University of Singapore

Teo Chee Khiang retired as Dy Auditor General, Auditor-General’s Office (AGO), in 2010 and is now Professor (Practice) in the Department of Accounting, National University of Singapore.

He has research interest in public sector financial governance, internal audits, and government audits, including performance auditing. He also lectures at the Civil Service College to senior civil servants from Singapore and overseas, and has spoken at conferences and seminars, both local and overseas.

He was a member of the CPF Board and chaired its Audit Committee He had also consulted with the World Bank in public sector financial management after retiring from AGO. He also chaired the ASEAN Audit Committee in 1998.

While in AGO, he had wide and in depth experience in public sector audit including public sector financial governance and management, and public sector frauds and corruption.

He graduated from the University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) and is a Fellow, Chartered Accountant, Singapore; Fellow, CPA Australia; Fellow, ACCA; and a Member of IIA Governing Board, Singapore.
