Atty Alexander B Cabrera

Representing Integrity Initiative Inc. (Philippines), Chairman and Senior Partner, Isla Lipana & Co.

 

Alex, both a Certified Public Accountant and lawyer, is the Chairman and Senior Partner of Isla Lipana & Co. - a member firm of PwC since 2013. His exposure in public practice lies in audit, tax, business advisory and legal services. He specializes in tax planning and business mergers and acquisitions.

 

He is currently a board member in PwC's Southeast Asia Regional Consulting practice.

 

Before becoming Chairman and Senior Partner, he was Tax Managing Partner since 2006. He is the managing partner of Cabrera & Company, a law firm he founded in 2002.

 

Recently, he launched a project to recognize, award and support developmental social enterprises to increase awareness of these businesses that help society and to help these enterprises scale up.

 

In 2013, he spearheaded the Philippine Gems campaign, a nationwide search to identify the country's next wave of tourist destinations. It is one of five Gold finalists in the 2014 Asia-Pacific SABRE Awards.

 

He likewise led Philippine Resiliency: a Gem Uncovered project that sought the insights of top Filipino CEOs in the Philippines. It won an Asian Publishing Award for the firm in 2010.

 

Alex is a columnist of the Philippines' leading print and digital newspaper, The Philippine STAR, with his "as easy as ABC" column published every Sunday. The column tackles civil, commercial and social issues.

 

The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants conferred on him the Young Achiever Award in 1998 for his outstanding achievements in public practice.

 

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the Philippine School of Business Administration, which in 2006 named him as one of its outstanding alumni. He earned his Juris Doctor at the Ateneo de Manila University in 1994 and became a lawyer in 1995. Alex attended a leadership and management program at Harvard Business School in 2006. He is currently completing Wharton University's CEO Global Transformation program.

 

He is currently the Chair of the tax committee of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) and member of the steering committee of MAP's Emerge, an initiative to fund and help selected entrepreneurs become successful.
