The ASEAN CSR Network (ACN) and Centre for Governance, Institutions and Organisations (CGIO) of NUS Business School organised an exclusive “Roundtable on Sustainability Reporting: Capability Development and Capacity Building” on Thursday, 20 October 2016, 9.30am - 12.00pm, Singapore.
This event was hosted by CGIO while the reports were a joint effort by both ACN and CGIO. This roundtable was well attended by about 230 attendees which included corporates and students. A/P Lawrence Loh (Director of CGIO at Business School) shared on the latest findings for both the SGX listed companies and REITS. This included the indicators of quality for the disclosures studied ie governance, economic, environmental and social.
A renowed panel of experts and leaders in sustainability advancement were also invited and they shared on their experiences and thoughts on this. This session was moderated by Mr Thomas Thomas (CEO, ACN).
This study is affliated to a large research study on the state of sustainability reporting of companies listed on the major stock exchange in ASEAN (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand). Seminar on Responsible Business: Business Integrity Key to Sustainability 4 Oct 2016
This seminar was held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It shared with Malaysian industries on private sector perspective, best practices on good governance as well as global findings. Mr Thomas Thomas, (CEO, ACN) gave the welcome remarks.
ASEAN Conference on Social Enterpreneurship 26 Oct 2016
This was held at Jakarta, Indonesia. It is the second gathering of social enterprises and public - private partners in the region to showcase their regional collaboration projects that were developed during the first conference held in Singpaore July 2016. This showcase will focus on sustaining their innovations and integrate their solutions into the social enterprise ecosystem.
Small Grants Fund
We had received a total of 64 applications from 9 ASEAN countries. From these applications, 43 were reviewed as they met our criteria. Out of which, 11 had been selected and they are in the midst of being contacted by ACN.
CSR Fellowship
ACN received an overwhelming response for our inaugural ASEAN CSR Fellowship applications from all 10 ASEAN countries. Most applicants were aspiring champions of CSR in their respective fields. ACN will be selecting the final list of candidates and they will travel across 4 countries in ASEAN from early 2017 onwards to visit top business leaders, government officials, academics and civil society practioners.
New Research Project to finance SMEs in ASEAN
Beginning from November 2016, ACN will embark on a year long research project to better understand the current landscape for SMEs in ASEAN with regards to their access to finance and technical support and whether there is an enabling enviornment for SMEs to embed and mainstream responsible business practices. This will be in collaboration with our project partners - Oxfam, Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) and the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN - BAC). This will be funded by the Rockefellar Foundation.

Business Integrity Forum 1 Nov 2016
Indonesia Business Links (IBL) and ASEAN CSR Network (ACN) will be co-organising this upcoming Business Integrity Forum at Jakarta. This will provide leaders of both private and development sectors to convene, learn and discuss business integrity practices by corporations and organisations while conducting their roles to achieve Sustainable Development Goals. ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) Seminar on Promoting CSR and Human Rights in ASEAN 3 - 4 Nov 2016
This is a closed door event. At the end of this seminar, ACN hope to present an ASEAN Regional Strategy which will pave the way for a joint effort across the region, to strengthen human rights in business practices.
