On 21-22 March 2017, ASEAN CSR Network (ACN) spent two days in Bangkok along with over 100 organisations in Asia supported by the Swedish Government. In a roomful of people with diverse backgrounds – from IKEA’s Sustainability Manager, to environmental economists and International Labour Organisation (ILO) leads on labour protection – we sought out ways to co-operate and pool together resources, aligning with Sweden’s new strategy on mutual interaction between human rights and environmental protection.
The two days of interactions sparked off new ideas for co-creation on responsible finance, migrant labour protection, disaster management – multi-stakeholder approaches bringing together partners from diverse fields. As governments, businesses and civil society continue to work towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ‘co-creation’ is likely to be an ever-important strategy to ensure that no one works in silo amidst our mounting challenges.
